Now, I have to go work on my CSS page :( That one looks hard.

Final Distances and Elevation Gains

So, over the past three days I've gone:

Madison to Pierce19.88,50014:10

Add to that the random walking around the huts and getting a bit lost, makes 20 miles. Damn.

And somehow I am still the same weight I was when I left. Seems I've hit my newest level with that. At least my pants aren't fitting badly right now...

  1.  Last night, we realized that our hiking trip is a week from Friday! I had a minor freak out about the fact that I don't feel at all prepared for this hike.
  2. So, I went running today. Did 1.28 miles around the house which included running up and down a hill four times. Actually felt alright after the first one and the last one I ran faster on it since I was going to be done :)
  3. Tomorrow, I start school! A little frazzled about that, but it will go fine. I've got my id, books, a vague idea of where my classes are, and a lot of nervous energy.
  4. Getting the grill back finally tomorrow! And maybe also a new bookcase so we can take Eric's books off the floor! Yeah!

So I took a lot of photos today...

  • The temperature today is much better than yesterday. At one point, the car told me it was 105 degrees. Yuck.
  • I just killed a big bug in the house and there is a lady bug trying to get into the house. Hate bugs!
  • Today's plans include going to Marshall's for clothes and rugs for the patio furniture
  • Fajitas for dinner tonight!
  • Orientation tomorrow! Crap, I start school next week.
  • Indiana Jones was a decent movie. And my dad paid for my ticket!

Although, I'm sure Red would be turning in his grave over the Celtics "dancers" and their lite up "outfits".

Ducks!

Inigo, weird
I was walking over the locks from the Garden/North Station area to Charlestown and saw a couple with their baby watching something on the locks themselves. I got a bit closer and saw a Mama Duck pacing back and forth very quickly and making a lot of noise. Why?

Her two babies were stuck in the lock below her!

So cuuuuute!!!

And these people were just watching the Mama...I said to her "You are a duck! You can fly and get down to them". She paced a few more times back and forth and then took my advice and threw herself down into the lock where one of the babies attached itself to Mom and the other acted all cool and old by not running to Mom immediately.

Didn't see them on the way back, so I hope the lock operators saw what was going on and they were able to escape wherever they wanted to go to.

And then I saw them preparing the Garden for the Finals:

Donuts and planes...

friend, love
There really isn't anything like having two friends "forcibly" kidnap you to go get donuts and then eat them outside at the beach watching planes take off and land.

Especially when those donuts were cheap, warm, fluffy, and so tasty.

Thanks to [info]oakenguy and [info]qlewkr for coming and getting me early this morning, eating with me, and then dropping me off at work.

  • Thanks for the sympathy...we finished all the funeral stuff today after a long day yesterday (I seriously spent about 20 hours with Eric's family over the last two days, most of it yesterday).
  • I'm exhausted and sad...tomorrow is Grandpa's birthday and Mom rebuffed my idea of bringing Grandma down to visit me at work because she is fighting with Aunty.
  • Work is going to suck, but I only have 2 days on and then it is my weekend again and I can sleep in on Monday since Eric isn't going to be home.
  • Probably going to go see Indiana Jones on Tuesday finally.
  • Eric is in Baltimore this weekend so I am alone and don't have access to the car and it is supposed to pour tomorrow morning while I'm going to work. Yuck.

Anyone local who wants any of this fabric: http://www.flickr.com/photos/faegirl/tags/donations/

If not, I'm just going to put it onto freecycle and out at the curb so I can get rid of it.

Did you know that you can rent entire islands? For not that much money?

This one is interesting: http://www.privateislandsonline.com/chanterelle-island.htm

Would be a great place for a birthday party :)

Took this last night at our rain delayed from Friday game. We won and only had to deal with a little bit of rain. They even gave Kapler a standing ovation the first time he came up in the rotation.

Now, I am tired. I've gotten probably 10 hours of sleep over the last two nights with lots of sun and lots and lots of visitors (mostly friendly) talking to me. A Canadian woman wanted to know if I would take loonies instead of dollars :) Time for bed!

Crab Apples

In the courtyard of the Visitor Center, we have three Crab Apple trees and a lilac bush. The crab apple trees always attract a lot of attention in the spring because they are gorgeous, they start off with pink heart shaped buds that open up into stark white petals.

I was quite annoyed with myself for forgetting to take pictures of them before because the likelihood that these trees will be gone by the end of the year is extremely high. We are moving into the Navy Yard and our building is going to be demolished.

Running again

  • May. 12th, 2008 at 2:08 PM

Well, figured I should start running again seeing as how I'm going on a 3 day backpacking trip next month. Running has always seemed to me the easiest and quickest way for my body to get back into shape.

Classes are fine, but the zumba class that I've been going to has gotten a bit crowded with dyslexic people that I just want to go to and move in the correct direction. And the girl who insists on standing next to me smells and has a habit of almost hitting me.

So, I figure if I run and start lifting a bit in addition to the whole walking around thing that I do 5 days a week at work, then I should be in good shape. I also have stopped snacking as much on bad stuff and just nibble here and there which will help. I think I might do sit ups with Eric tonight...he has a series of like, 100 that he does in all different ways.

Anyways, I did 1.01 miles with an elevation gain of 60 feet in the first .44 miles in about 12 or so minutes and felt pretty good...I probably should have walked it off instead of just coming upstairs because I did feel a bit faint. I should probably eat something better before I do this whole thing, but I just decided to go out before Eric came home.

Some chocolate, water, and lying down helped though.

Tomorrow, I might go to the belly dancing class at 7:30. I should probably just join the kickboxing class but I'm pretty sure that would be very crowded. They also started a boxing class, but I don't like the idea of hitting things like that.
